Majority of our health is decided by the food we eat. With our busy lifestyles, we hardly have time to make our own meals and enjoy organic food. Rather, we buy take out and simply stuff our bodies with so much sugar, salt and fat. Changing the way you eat can bring such favourable results to your health. It can lower your cholesterol and blood pressure, and help you maintain a healthy weight. Eating healthy doesn’t always mean eating boring so just focus on your calorie intake and follow these steps.

  1. Eliminate all processed food

If you look around your kitchen, you might see that your cabinets are filled with artificially processed foods. These are the killers! Any artificial sweeteners, coloring, additives and other chemicals need to be kept away from use, especially for children. Diabetes, cholesterol and cancer are highly common among kids nowadays and it’s all due to fast food and candy that they shouldn’t be having. Of course a cheese burger is comfort food; however eating one everyday can be deadly for growing children. The meat used in burgers is artificially processed using hormone injections and other chemical and these substances will cause growth imbalances in kids and adults. Processed foods will disrupt your digestion, increase your anxiety levels and surely cause weight gain.

 

  1. Have a green smoothie

If you haven’t tried one, now is the perfect time to. They are a great way to start your mornings and will satisfy your sweet tooth, cleanse your colon and provide plenty of vitamins and minerals that will help keep you energized and happy the entire day. Green smoothies also contain chlorophyll that will flush away the harmful substances such as heavy metals and pesticides. A green smoothie is not those boring and horrible tasting drinks. They are sweet and great to drink to refresh yourself in the morning. Simply take a ripe mango, two handfuls of spinach and add 1 or 2 cups of water. Blend till its smooth and there you go!

  1. Eat fruits

A myth is that fruits contain bad carbohydrates that make you fat. However, that is not the case. Processed carbs such as white bread, pasta, breakfast cereals etc. should be avoided while good cards in fresh fruits and sweet rooted vegetables are a compulsory element in a balanced diet. You need to add fruits after every meal. Also, in between meals, rather than craving for fried chips to munch on as a snack, you can take an apple to work. Fruits will keep you fresh during the day.
